Mick is her brother`s wife`s brother and the narrator has joined her family-in-law the third Christmas in a row. She is a bookish type with woolen skirts and a prim blouse and she`s never had something like this happen to her before, but she doesn`t push Mick`s hand away. No, she stares at the tattoo on his biceps and has a lot of hilarious thoughts in her head.This hand on her thigh leads to more between the narrator and the hot, tattooed Mick. Mick wants something special out of her - he wants her to express what she feels when he`s touching her. And loudly. He also tells her that he`s wanted her for a very long time.
This whole story is about Christmas eve and Christmas morning - apart from the epilogue. It`s short, but it`s incredibly sweet. And hot. It`s two ordinary people finding each other after having wanted each other for quite a while. And it`s so incredibly well written. You`re really in the head of the narrator and feel what she`s feeling. All in all the story is a very nice way to spend a few hours.

This was such a fun read. The story opens on Christmas Eve with our heroine, Nancy, dressed in her sensible clothes, hair neatly plaited, being fondled under the table by the very sexy (or revoltingly handsome, as Nance describes him) Mick Hennessey. Much covert lust ensues, with very steamy sex scenes mixed with a good dose of humour. And the all important ending? Absolutely delicious.
Geez. I can only read one Charlotte at a time b/c otherwise I just make myself nuts. Strong on her prose and characterization, she never plays TSTL with her plots. This is awfully refreshing for erotica where there always seems to have to be some excuse, no matter how absurd. Stein addresses lust quite directly and it just adds to the narrative tension.
This story made my heart just melt - how adorable. My favorite line "...Please Lord, save me from Mick Hennessey...
But I don't think the Lord is listening. His Gran might be, but any and all deities are nowhere to be found."
Only Charlotte - of all the thousands of erotica pennings I've read - can make me laugh so much in the middle of a saucy scene! But I never feel bad - she puts some incredible fun into passion!
Such a delightful holiday story that can be read any time of the year. Sneaking around is fun, especially when it's with your longtime crush. This quickie is steamy and satisfying with the kind of happy ending I can count on Charlotte Stein to deliver.
I enjoyed the story of Nancy and Mick, both of them coming together for another Christmas with his family for another year, and both denying their feelings for one another. It was a short, sweet read, and I loved this couple!
Charlotte Stein continues to be my favorite comical romance writer. This story reminds me of the ceramic ashtray I made in pottery class. It's small, functional, decorative but not my best work. I can't bring myself to put it in the garbage and if I tried it in a yard sale, no one would buy it because they've already got one they made! So don't expect much but enjoy it anyway.
